Is Facebook Really Shutting Down..??

I got a message on Facebook from one of my friends suggesting me that I backup all the information and pictures from my Facebook account. The message quoted the text below:

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.

After googling for a while I found that was a piece of article published on Weekly World News on January 9th 2011.  So it’s there on the internet, must be true, huh. I forgot for a moment that the site was  famous for rumors. I started reading the article. It said Mark Zuckerberg announced the shutdown of service because of the stress of managing a company. Yes it can’t sound funnier than that.

Funnier were the comments. Some people confessed that they were Facebook addicts and couldn’t live without that. Yes of  course, there are many. LOL.  Some people said facebook should be shut down because so many people are addicted to it. It was interesting to read but couldn’t read more than 10 thousand  comments. Yes this post has gained so much popularity that people started advertising through comments. Some people posted links to their own social networking site and some posted the links to the sites that could help people deleting their personal information.

So According to me This "Facebook Shutting down permanently" news is nothing but a rumor. I read many posts and articles stating the same. Don't worry folks FB not going anywhere.

And Now Even New York Daily News reported that Facebook tweeted "We are not going anywhere,We didn't get the memo shut down,so we will keep working."

Another website quoted that... " Since last weekend, there were rumors circulating on the Internet that Facebook is shutting down March 15 because CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a press conference that "he wants his old life back and need to get rid of all the madness".
According to the Facebook administration, the rumors are false and rubbish.
CNN website also published a news to end all rumors. Facebook Director of Corporate Communication Lary Yu told CNN that there is no truth and we are not shutting down the social networking website, and all such rumors are false. Last month, Facebook received investments of $500 million from Goldman Sachs and Russian firm Digital Sky Technologies."

Not sure why Weekly World News posted such posts on their blog. But it was interesting to read the comments. Well before backing up your Facebook account visit The Facebook Blog and see what they say about this.

I will request Everyone to please Stop Spreading rumors. And Pass On the Correct News.
